RANDOM SMILEYS OR A HIDDEN MEANING? THE STORY BEHIND THE SYMBOLS OF OUR ‘MIND SPLIT’ T

It’s getting colder, cuffing season is in full swing and our SAD is just about setting in. Since lovely ms. rona won’t allow us to beeline to the tropics this winter we wanted to drop a T to show how in our feelings we are rn.

The ‘Mind Split’ T is a testament to all us survivors. Cue: Gloria Gaynor. It celebrates the duality and strength a lot of us carry around on our sleeves. Just cos we’ve learnt to show vulnerability again doesn’t mean we’re not complete badasses. Duality means that strength and vulnerability go hand-in-hand. So do fear and love, mind and soul, ice and fire (lol).

Our mental and physical histories are so coordinated that sometimes mental events cause physical reactions (and vice versa). Sounds crazy right? Well it’s not. Just ask Plato.

The primary source for Plato's views on the metaphysical status of the soul is the Phaedo, set on the final day of Socrates’ life before his self-administered execution. Plato (through the mouth of Socrates, his dramatic persona) likens the body to a prison in which the soul is confined. Some dark stuff. But, it’s true. The mind and body are connected in ways we can’t even fathom.

Moving on to things we do know. The icons in the 'Mind Split’ T are all carefully placed to communicate our views on the whole duality thing. Right from the dual head visual in the front interspersed with the statement ‘Mind Split’ type to the ‘peace’ and ‘target’ logos in the back, that visualise our personal struggles with what we think is ‘good’ and ‘evil’.

The text on the right sleeve ‘SCARS UNDERNEATH PLEASURE’ is a testament to all the weird, difficult, heartbreakingly sad, confusing moments that made us who we are today. The bad shit we had to go through to get to the good stuff. It’s cool, we’re here now. We made it and came out stronger.

With the left sleeve, we had the phases of the moon in mind—a constant, reliable, comforting undulation between happy and sad we all experience. Each one making us appreciate and understand the other a little more.

So here it is folks, our ‘Mind Split’ T. A lot of love and thought went into it and we’d love for you to rep it if the story reminds you of things you’ve been through. Cop it exclusively on crepdogcrew.com.

Have a great week and keep on doing you xxx
